Quartz “cast” after AnhydriteA beautiful, toenail sized specimen from the famous Canyon Creek area that produced some of the most well known Quartz casts from the state. For years, people have written that these epimorphs were replacements of Quartz after Baryte, and I always contested that this couldnt be the case, and that the casts were most likely after Anhydrite. Finally, it appears that somebody else is on board with me as I read from Bill Dameron on mindat that Dr. Virgil
and is about 95% WATER-CLEAR with a vibrant pink-red interior color
the piece has a rich bronze patina all the way around which is a great characteristic of these old-time specimens
white scalenohedra of Calcite which are gently “dusted” with sparkling golden Pyrite in select areas
Great crystal quality and very eye-catching in person
